U nderstanding Big Behaviours: A Parent’s Guide to Sensory Processing
October 21, 2026 (Wednesday), 10:15am–11:15am
Children communicate through their behaviours, and sometimes big emotions, difficulty with transitions, challenges with attention, or sensory-seeking/avoiding behaviours can be signs that a child’s sensory needs are not being fully supported. In this interactive workshop, pediatric occupational therapist and Clinical Director at VanKids Pediatrics Inc, Leo Tam will introduce sensory processing in a simple and parent-friendly way, helping families understand how children take in and respond to information from their environment.
Parents will learn how sensory processing can impact regulation, play, participation, and everyday routines, as well as practical strategies they can use at home to support their child’s development. The session will also include hands-on demonstrations of sensory tools and activities commonly used in occupational therapy to promote self-regulation, engagement, and successful participation in daily activities.
